This is us
Through its members and branches, the German Life Saving Association is the largest, voluntary and leading water rescue organization in Germany, Europe and the world. The German Life Saving Association was founded in Leipzig in 1913 to save people from drowning.
Our core tasks include swimming and lifeguard training, education about water hazards and water rescue services.
We are a local group in the largest worldwide organization for water rescue. We work exclusively on a voluntary basis. Age does not play a role. Our catchment area is the district of Mengede and the surrounding area.
Our aims
Educating people on and in the water is one of our main tasks. We teach swimming to young and old. We also offer various courses and further training for our members, take part in various fun and further training events at district level and promote togetherness between young and old.
